HISTORY: Bethany Duquesne and her twin sister, Pamela, were raised in a
seemingly ordinary home near Detroit. But it wasn't what it looked like - her parents were
witches devoted to the dark powers, and from birth they groomed both girls to follow in
thier footsteps. While Pamela, a cruel and spiteful child, took to the training readily,
Bethany found it disturbing. Bethany's talent for magic was greater than her sister's, but
she was too kind-hearted and gentle to truly embrace all her parents teachings.On the eve of the twins 18th birthday, they were to be
formally inducted into the Circle of the Scarlet Moon, the powerful coven their parents
belonged to. Pamela completed the ritual, but Bethany rebelled, using her magicks to flee
from her family.
During two years of wandering, she refused to
use her magic. Circumstances brought her to the attention of a wise old sorcerer named
Mike the Elder. Mike took her under his wings, showing her the ways of Order and Wiccan
magic. She excelled under his tutelage, soon becoming a Sorceress. After she completed her
test, she returned to Detroit, where she found herself working for the Council of Twelve.
She adopted the public persona of Witchcraft, when she joined the local hero group.
Meanwhile, her sister, Pamela, adopted the name
Talisman, and became a very skilled Chaos Mage., eventually joining the Council of Twelve.
Pamela still had an extreme hatred of her sister, who she felt betrayed her family. During
one of her plans to kill Bethany she cursed her with susceptibility to cold.
Currently Talisman no longer serves on the
Council of Twelve, while Witchcraft still runs errands for them, and is under the tutelage
of Dr Fate.
