Exactly how Scientific and technological Advanced Research came to be founded is at present unrevealed, but it was first established in Metropolis, where a Dr. Farr was the director. In the time since, many brilliant scientists have been employed by S.T.A.R., and the lab's discoveries have astonished the world.

S.T.A.R. now has branches across the nation, in most major cities. It would be impossible, in this brief space, to tell all the discoveries made by S.T.A.R., not to mention the other projects in which they are now involved. Indeed, some of these are top secret, being funded by the US Government. Within the past five years, they began funding the Institute for Metahuman Research. The two agencies work closely together.

The current chief administrator is Dr. Jenet Klyburn. She runs the Metropolis and New York branches. Dr. Murray Takamoto is the facility head of the Chicago offices. Dr. Mary Shefli is the head of the Atlanta office.
