 A Killer Cold
I had been fighting the sniffles for a few days. I was coming
down with a cold and was obviously losing this fight. With the recent changes to my body,
I was reluctant to take anything, who knew how it would react with my chemistry. I went to
the shop as usual, thinking I could ignore how lousy I was starting to feel. Meow was
lurking around the shop with me, while MusiKai had gone across the street to pick me up
some soup for lunch. I didn't have much of an appetite, but needed to get something in my
system. He had not left me alone since that incident, and it was starting to give me a
headache. He wasn't being pushy, or anything like that, but was hovering, which I hate. Of
course, the constant humming from the electricity in the wires around me was making said
headache a hundred times worse.
Even Meow was in a lousy mood. He had interrupted an almost successful hunt to get her to
wait with me. She had been muttering about it the whole time he had been gone. I am still
wondering where she learned such language.
Just as MusiKai walked through the door, I felt a familiar tickle in my nose. As my head
jerked with the sneeze, sparks flew out from her body, landing in the nearest light bulb,
causing it to explode. MusiKai's eyes widened as he saw it, then came in and set the soup
down, quickly checking me over to make sure the glass didn't cut me. "What
happened?"
I shrugged, knowing no more than he did, but looked to the empty socket. "I think I
sneezed too hard."
I managed to stifle a few more sneezes, but went home early, I decided that it would be
safer for me to sneeze and blow up light bulbs at home, where no one else would be hurt.
Meow went to find somewhere else to sleep for the night after seeing that display. I
chuckled at her face, her muttering had stopped instantly. I snuggled under a cover on the
couch and turned on a good movie.
As I coughed into my hand, small sparks flew, but nothing like the one earlier. I decided
to take a nap, and tried something new, since the remote had disappeared. I pointed a
finger at the TV, concentrating, trying to cut off it's electric flow. I was so focused, I
didn't feel it coming on, till it happened. I sneezed hard again, and the screen on the TV
went pitch black and popped. I grabbed a tissue and wiped my nose, looking at the TV. I
cursed, and hollered for MusiKai to bring the TV from the bedroom into the living room for
me.
I thought hard, and decided I couldn't afford to keep blowing out electrical stuff like
this. I had to try and take something, so I sat MusiKai down and started to talk to him
about it.
"I can't keep this sneezing up, especially with this happening every time. I am going
to try and take something for it, in spite of not knowing if it will work or if anything
bad will happen. I have allergy medicine in the cabinet, if I have a bad reaction, which
means if I start sounding like I can't breathe, or am swelling up, or anything dramatic,
get it into me as fast as possible. I might have some other reactions, but they aren't
anything like that. They will fade as the medicine wears off, so we'll have to wait and
see with those."
He nodded understandingly and went to get me a drink as I went to get the cold medicine. I
sat on the edge of the couch, holding the pills in my hand as he handed me the glass of
water. I looked up at him and smiled, then downed the medicine and the water.
A little bit later, I was still laying under the blanket on the couch. Evidently I had
developed a fever, since I was shivering in spite of the thickness of the blanket. I
looked around and almost fell off the couch. I could see through the wall to where MusiKai
was standing in the kitchen.
"You have got to be kidding me." I muttered to myself, and got up. I was
starting to feel better, and had stopped coughing. As I walked into the kitchen, I
realized the wall wasn't all I could see through. I started giggling. He looked over at me
with a 'what are you doing out of bed?' look before he heard my giggles. He followed my
gaze and pouted, thinking I was laughing at something else. I almost fell over, but
grabbed the door frame just in time.
"My silly Kai, I wasn't laughing at that. Definitely not." I walked over to him.
"I was laughing because....because....I can see through your clothes...and the wall,
and anything else I look at." This prompted a strange look and another fit of
laughter burst out. I sat down in the kitchen chair before I collapsed. I was laughing so
hard I couldn't stop. MusiKai continued to look at me oddly. I looked back at him
prompting another, even stranger look.
"Your eyes...they're glowing. I think maybe you should take some of that allergy
stuff." I shook my head emphatically.
"No, I'm fine, I feel better. Just a little silly. to have these electric problems,
now to see through things. It's just really weird." I started giggling again at the
absurdity of it. He sighed and went back to whatever he was doing. I got up and decided I
wanted to sit on the porch, and get some sun. Just then the mailman came by. I looked and
started busting out laughing again. His reaction was not so humorous. He started to throw
my mail on the porch and walk away as fast as he could. And that was when I really started
to feel weird.
As I stood up to grab the mail that had missed the porch, something flashed in the corner
of my eye. I turned my head and all I saw was a bird, or more specifically the working
living insides of a bird. Gross. I'm not really sure what happened after that point, I
remember bits and pieces, and since MusiKai does not want to talk about it, I've had to
piece it together myself.
I felt like I was watching myself from the inside, not having control of myself, but also
knowing that nothing would happen to hurt me. I saw myself walking away from the house,
and towards a bar. I was thinking I shouldn't do this, but my feet kept walking in spite
of it.
I made a detour into a provocative clothing shop and bought some clothes that usually I
would not be caught dead in outside the privacy of my own bedroom. I walked out of the
store wearing them, a short black leather skirt and a nearly see through top, adding six
inch spiked heel boots to the ensemble. I continued on, finally coming across a seedy bar
with a stage and band. I walked in and looked around. It was almost a typical biker bar.
There were big burly tattooed men sitting on barstools, scantily clad women hanging off
them. The band on stage was performing some sort of hillbilly rock mix, and I smiled. This
was exactly what I was looking for.
I confidently walked over to the guy who apparently was the band's leader. I whispered
something in his ear, and he nodded, turning to the others. As I grabbed the mike and
walked to the front of the stage, he explained things to the others. After a few seconds,
they started playing again. They started playing a Bon Jovi song, and I started dancing to
it. When the time came, I started singing, belting the song out to the hoots and hollers
of the crowd in front of us. The time passed like this, for about an hour, me singing, the
band playing. Eventually I got tired and went to the bar for a drink. I was at least able
to only order a pop.
A big burly guy came up to me and started to talk to me. "Hey....you're pretty
good."
"Thanks. I'm Arania..you are?" Looking him over. His eyes were glued to my
breasts. 'Typical pig' I thought.
"Jerry." Then he made a big mistake. He actually tried to touch me. I glared at
his hand on my shoulder.
"I suggest you back off...Jerry. You have nothing I want." He frowned at me.
"I doubt that girl, why don't you come with me. Let me show you a good time." I
looked at him and laughed evilly.
"I warned you." At that my eyes flashed at him, and my body coursed with
electricity. My hair stood on end as the lights in the already dim bar went even darker.
His eyes widened as the power started flowing through his body. His short nearly bald head
snapped back and he let go of me and fell onto his knees. I returned to sipping my drink
in spite of the glares and anger I felt around me. I turned as I heard someone walk up
behind me again, and saw a fairly handsome man approaching me.
There was something familiar about him, though I couldn't place my finger on what it was.
Still can't for that matter. He sat on the stool next to me, and ordered a beer. His eyes
were on me as I turned back to my soda, and finished it.
I wanted to do something so badly. I was bored, and the only thing in my mind at that
moment was getting rid of that problem. I cared about nothing else. At that point I must
have gone absolutely mad, because when I heard the band start up again, I climbed back on
stage. This time totally ignoring the microphone. My body moved with the music, everything
around me having vanished to me.
The clothes I was wearing felt constricting to me. I started undoing the buttons on my top
as I danced. The men in the crowd were all watching me, including the man who I ignored at
the bar. Usually the thought of so many people staring would have driven me back to my
house, but this time it only spurred me on, making me want more attention.
Under the sheer shirt, I had on a black bra, I removed the top and twirled it above my
head, throwing it out into the audience. Shortly after my skirt followed, leaving me
wearing my underwear and still dancing. As my hands went around to my back, I allowed a
surge to pass through my body, blacking out the entire bar and stopping the music. I
somehow was able to use the electric fields around everything to propel myself along the
ceiling and out the door, up into the sky.
I felt the wind caressing my flesh and had never felt so free. But, as much as I was
enjoying this, I was still bored out of my mind.
I flew over my house and saw MusiKai picking the mail up from the sidewalk where I had
dropped it. I smiled wickedly and landed on the roof behind him.
"Hi Sexy." I grinned at him, perching on the peak of our roof.
"What the blazes are you doing up there? Where are your clothes?" If he could
have turned red, he would have looked like a beet at that moment. He gaped at me, and for
the third time that afternoon the mail met the pavement.
"What, don't you like looking at me?" I giggled in mock innocence and stood,
walking along the roof like it was a balance beam. He pulled himself up onto the roof and
tried to grab me. I launched myself into the air, knocking him off the roof.
He landed in the grass with a thud. I hovered just above him, and kissed him passionately.
He thudded, and I pouted. 'Great, now he's out and I'm bored.' I thought to myself. I flew
off again.
This time I flew lower, causing some women to glare, and men to stare. I flew out over the
woods as dusk was approaching and saw APEC castle. I flew off towards it and saw golf
balls flying over the trees into the woods. As I got closer to the battlements I saw a
group of Kais there. I zoomed into them, kissing each one hard, groping here and there,
before flying off again.
The next thing I remember was waking up the following morning, in the middle of the
woods...still wearing only my underwear and the boots. I looked around and shook my head,
sneezing. The cold wasn't gone, but the medicine had worn off, but not the Xray effect
yet. I could see through the trees into their trunks and leaves, watching the sap flow
through them. I wasn't sure what to do, but I tried to use the electric currents to fly
again, resulting in me landing on my hiney in a mud puddle. I growled, and muttering
started to the road I could hear a little ways off. I got to the road and looked around,
heading back into town, and home.
