Belonging

Arania walked through the house, carrying three gallons of paint, a monkey tail coming from her rear to help her carry them. She was getting frustrated. She had been hunting everywhere for BlueKai and had not found him. She was going to help him paint his room blue, a light shade, but he was nowhere to be found. She once again headed towards the other side of the house, wondering where on Earth he could have gone.

Blue watched everything from his hidden spot in the rafters of the foyer. He remained silent, thinking about how he felt over and over again. Since Eagle was "fixed" he had been very lonely. The other Thetas were able to spend a lot of time with their brothers, since they had yet to find ladies of their own, but he didn’t have the same choice. Sparrow now spent most of his time with Arania or working around Haven. Blue sighed and jumped down, heading for his room.

Arania set the paint cans down again and knocked on the door in front of her.

"I swear I am not lugging these things any further, if he’s not here, I am putting the damned things in the barn." She muttered to herself as she tried to work out a kink in her tail.

Blue opened his door, face falling as he saw it wasn’t who he had hoped it would be.

"Come in Wania." He stood to the side to let her into his room, helping by grabbing one of the cans.

She set the cans down inside the door and looked at him, noticing his frown. "Is there something wrong Blue?"

He sat down on his bed and shook his head at her. Arania frowned, but chose not to force it out of him, starting to talk to him about how he was going to paint his room.

"I want Spawow to hep me do it." Blue stated.

"Blue, you know how busy he is working around the mansion." She replied to him.

He bit his lip for a long moment, but burst into tears, his feelings finally overwhelming him. Ari moved and quickly sat beside him, hugging him, mindless of the prototears soaking her blouse.

"Shhh, Blue, please, tell me what’s wrong." She reached into her pocket, pulling out a swatch of cloth and wiped his tear soaked face.

"I is all awone, spawow has you, eagle is dif’ent, the others all have someone, I have nowon now" He sobbed, looking down at his legs, he twisted his fingers in his shirt.

"Blue, that’s not true, I know that Sparrow can’t always be there when you want him to but he still loves you."

"But he no want to pway wit me anymore, he’d wather play wit you." Sniffling he looked up, his face streaked with dirt.

Arania nodded a little, and made him stand up, guiding him into the bathroom where she washed his face gently with warm water. "I know it’s hard Blue, I felt that way a lot when I was a kid. I’m the oldest, and there weren’t other kids my age to play with when I was growing up. It can be very lonely watching others play and not having anyone to do stuff with yourself."

Again he sniffled and nodded, looking at her a little surprised. "You were awone too?"

"Mmm-hmm," She said with a nod as she knelt in front of him, drying his face. "I had no one to play with. I would watch my sisters and brother go off and play with their friends, and be left at home, alone watching TV and listening to music. Blue, all of us here love you a lot, you know that right?"

He nodded. "Yep…I love all of you too. You my fam’wy."

She had to smile at that. "Yes, we are. Look, if you ever feel like no one wants to play with you, you can call me, and I promise to spend time with you. I know I can’t do everything that you Kais do, I’m immortal but I can still be hurt after all, but I will always have time for you, you’re my buddy."

A smile lit up his face and he hugged Arania tightly till she squeaked.

"Oh, and Blue, there will be someone else here to play with in a couple days. My nephew James is going to be visiting me for a while, and he’s big enough he can color, and play games and stuff."

"Weawy??" He asked, getting excited. "Can he stay in my woom? We betta get the painting dun!"

She laughed and went to help him paint his room, glad he was feeling better.
